Cupra unveils el-Born “charged” electric hatchbackJuly 8, 2020
The market debut of new items will have to wait until 2021. The electric hot hatch is now called a close relative of the Volkswagen ID.3 electric car.
The first electric car on the MEB platform appeared in the Cupra lineup. It is known that this will be a “charged” electric hatchback Cupra el-Born. The “green” novelty was a continuation of the SEAT concept car of the same name, whose debut was organized in the spring of 2019.
From this car, the novelty is distinguished by original decor, interior equipment, as well as a redesigned front end. So, the “hot” el-Born got a new bumper with a grown air intake and a spectacular “niche” for the logo.
But on the technical side, these two cars will not copy each other. The efficiency of the Cupra el-Born electric motor is still a secret. The only thing that the manufacturer revealed was the battery capacity. It is 77 kW⋅h. For comparison, the Seat model showed 62 kWh.
Up to 50 km / h (in many European cities this is the maximum permitted speed), the electric hatch will accelerate in 2.9 seconds. Recall that the electric Seat Mii electric spent a second more on this exercise. The range of the new electric car reaches 500 kilometers.
A factory in the German city of Zwickau will be engaged in its production. Here el-Born will be Volkswagen ID.3.
Earlier,AutoTimesNews talked about the high-profile premiere of the updated Cupra Ateca 2021 crossover model year. The novelty got the sporty settings of the chassis and a slightly retouched design.
