Cupra releases teaser for Formentor production crossoverFebruary 26, 2020
The Spanish brand Cupra, which is under the wing of SEAT, will hold the public premiere of its news at the March Geneva Motor Show.
Cupra will bring to Switzerland several car innovations at once, one of which is the production version of the Formentor crossover. A few days before the upcoming debut, the brand showed a teaser of the future news. The picture shows us the spectacular Cupra Formentor taillights, which received slightly less bizarre graphics than the headlights of the previously presented concept. In general, the serial Formentor will borrow a lot from the conceptual model. And designers have spied individual touches at Cupra Leon.
According to forecasts by auto experts, the novelty can get a 1.4-liter gasoline turbo engine, combined with an electric motor. The return of such a power unit reaches 242 hp.
A similar, if not identical, installation will be available for the Skoda Octavia RS iV, as well as for the more powerful Volkswagen Golf GTE. All these cars will receive an automatic dual-clutch gearbox. Whether Formentor will receive the usual 2.0 TSI without an electric motor, like the same Leon, has not yet been reported. For the Spaniards, selling a crossover with a more traditional engine would be a good move. Such a car is cheaper, which will help it attract more buyers.
