Cupra plans to launch a Terramar CoupeNovember 4, 2018
For the first time, SEAT decided to present an off-road model in 2016 – it was Ateca. Then came the more compact Arona, and the company recently introduced the large Tarraco. Apparently, it’s time for another model. Cupra, which develops sports models for SEAT, is planning to create a coupe-shaped SUV that could be called the Terramar.
Autodromo de Sitges-Terramar is a former racing track located not far from Barcelona and built in the 20s of the last century. Thus, the name Terramar is consistent with the policy of SEAT, which draws inspiration from Spanish geography.
SEAT has already confirmed that the crossover will be comparable in size with the model Leon. According to the company, this will be a pretty sporty and coupe-like crossover, which is ideally suited to Cupra’s philosophy. He should probably occupy a niche between Ateca and Tarraco.
On the other hand, there is information that the concept SEAT 20v20, presented at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, will be the basic image for Terramar. Under the hood, the novelty will have an engine capable of developing more than 300 horsepower, paired with an automatic transmission with dual clutch and all-wheel drive. The installation of an electric motor for the hybrid version is also not excluded.
