Cupra e-Racer sports car debuts in FrankfurtSeptember 15, 2019
After the announcement of the Ateca crossover, the TCR race car and the Ibiza hot hatchback concept, the new autonomous SEAT division decided to surprise everyone once again by preparing another novelty for the Frankfurt Motor Show.
SEAT President Luca de Meo said that this is the first electric Touring car in the world with 402 horsepower. However, there is a slight refinement – the peak power provided by electric motors for a short period of time is 670 hp.
In principle, it is not surprising – the e-Racer is based on the Leon TCR, only the usual engine in it was replaced with four electric ones. Thanks to this, an all-wheel drive system is implemented. Acceleration to 100 km / h in new items takes only 3 seconds.
CUPRA’s goal is to redefine the future of racing: creating a new, cleaner and more efficient way to compete, where technology and communication play a key role. Cupra e-Racer anticipates this future by opening the door to competition between all-electric cars in 2019.
Rear-view mirrors have been replaced with mini-cameras, providing better aerodynamics. The built-in screen on the dashboard allows the driver to see what is happening around him. The real-time central touch screen monitors and transmits relevant data regarding the electrical system and vehicle specifications.
