Crossover Ferrari will be very different from other SUVsSeptember 25, 2018
Enzo’s son Ferrari Piero in an exclusive interview with Motorsport.com revealed some things about the first crossover of the Italian brand – Purosangue. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Board and the owner of the company’s 10% stake, the car will receive four doors, but it “can not be confused with any other SUV on the market.”
The name of the model and the timing of its appearance on the market was revealed by the head of Ferrari Luis Carrey Camilleri during the presentation of a new five-year development plan for the company. A crossover called Purosangue (Italian “purebred”) will be released in 2022 and will be built on a new platform Front- and Mid-Engine Architecture. Instead of the traditional “atmospheric” or twin-turbo V8, the all-terrain vehicle will be equipped with a hybrid power plant based on the V6, as well as 60 percent of Ferrari’s supercars produced at that time.
For the sake of ideal weighting along the axes, the internal combustion engine will be installed in the front within the base, and the gearbox and hybrid system – at the rear. Purosangue will receive four-wheel drive, a new, innovative suspension with the ability to adjust the ride height, infotainment system for the rear passengers and an updated control system for the basic functions of the car.
