Crossover Citroen C4 Cactus differs from the hatch of the same name not only externally

In the web there were pictures of the interior of the restyling five-door Citroen C4 Cactus, designed for the countries of South America.

The European version of the updated C4 Cactus brand Citroen introduced in the fall of 2017. Along with the design, the positioning of the model also changed: if before the five-door hatch in the Old World was called a crossover, then after restyling it turned into a hatchback. The company thus cleared the way for a compact SUV C3 Aircross. In May this year, the French showed an updated C4 Cactus, destined for South America – on this continent Cactus again turned into an SUV. European cars are produced in Spain, and the production model for the South American market is established in Brazil.

Externally from the eurohatch, the Brazilian C4 Cactus differs only in the availability of roof rails and a two-tone exterior painting. Salon the same crossover was reworked much more seriously. Pictures of the interior of the South American version published the publication Quatro Rodas.

So, the C4 Cactus SUV got a different front panel and blowers. The touchscreen of the multimedia system is built into the central console, while the European version has a “floating” tablet. Also, the cross got a digital dashboard, inscribed under the standard visor, like the local version of the Citroen C4 sedan. The European updated hatchback also has a virtual dashboard, but it rises above the panel. Another difference is that the Cactus of the Brazilian glass assembly in the rear doors is lowered, and the European C4 Cactus can only be slightly thrown aside.

In Brazil, the SUV will be offered with a 1.6 THP turbo four with a power output of 173 hp and atmospheric 1.6 FlexStart, working both on gasoline and on ethanol (118 – 122 hp). Both motors are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission, for the bi-fuel engine there is still a 5-speed manual transmission. In Europe, the hatchback C4 Cactus is presented with a petrol turbo engine 1.2 PureTech (130 hp), atmospheric 1.2 (75 or 82 hp) and its turbo version with a return of 110 hp, four-cylinder turbodiesel 1.6 BlueHDi (99 hp). Hatch is available with manual, robotic or automatic transmission. The drive for all the modifications is only front (in the pre-reform Cactus, too, there was no version of 4 × 4).

Recall, the European five-door hatch – a new suspension with hydraulic stops (Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, PHC): the standard shock absorbers added a couple of hydraulic buffers, which “extinguish” the strokes during the progress of compression and rebound. According to preliminary data, the Brazilian assembly line has not got such a suspension. But in terms of security SUV is not inferior to the hatch: the list of equipment of the South American C4 Cactus included automatic emergency braking systems, preventing collision and warning of leaving the occupied band.

The first market for the updated Cactus will obviously be Brazil. There, the sales of the model start in the near future. Later, the crossover will appear in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Colombia.
