Crash tests of seven new models took place under the leadership of Euro NCAPSeptember 5, 2019
According to the results of the tests, the cars got the highest rating of the degree of safety.
Euro NCAP has tested nine different models: Mercedes-Benz CLA, Skoda Kamiq, Ford Focus, Audi A1, Mercedes-Benz EQC, BMW Z4, SsangYong Korando. As the test results showed, each car confirmed its safety level, having acquired a five-star rating.
So, in Audi A1, passenger safety was rated at 95%, pedestrians – at 73%. Experts noticed that the chest would be poorly protected if a head-on collision with another car occurred. As for pedestrians, they are most threatened by the side racks of the car.
Roughly identical ratings were given to the Ford Focus hatchback. So, the driver and passengers here are protected by 96%, but for pedestrians this figure was 72%.
As for the Mercedes-Benz CLA, passenger protection coincided with the previous model, but pedestrians are protected slightly better – by as much as 91%. After successfully passing the tests, the experts noted only the risk of getting a chest injury during a collision with a frontal obstruction.
In addition, the Mercedes-Benz EQC got the highest score. Passengers have protection in 96%, pedestrians in 75%. Experts emphasized that all auto systems operate at the highest level. The only thing that has not affected is the car restraint system.
The BMW Z4 convertible took part in the tests, which also did not miss the opportunity to get five rating stars. Here, the safety of the driver and passengers was rated at 97%. Pedestrians were protected by 91%. By the way, in this car, experts emphasized that it would be difficult for the driver to injure his chest due to a head-on collision.
In turn, Skoda Kamiq protects its passengers by 96%, and pedestrians are limited from danger by 80%. The experts’ complaints were caused only by the operation of the speed control system. There were no questions to other options.
Not without a five-star rating and the crossover SsangYong Korando. As a result, the model received slightly lower results than the rest of the car. Passengers here are 68% protected.
