Concern GM will present a new pickup in 2020December 27, 2018
It is reported that the new product will act as a direct competitor for the future compact pickup from Ford (it will be built on the basis of the Ford Focus), as well as Renault Oroch and Fiat Toro. The first, the novelty will see motorists from South America.
The largest US concern General Motors is working to create a new small pickup truck, which will be designed mainly for the automotive market in South America. Referring to its trusted sources, reports the foreign edition of GM Authority. According to the plans of the concern’s management, the new model will have to be a replacement for the outdated Chevrolet Montana, which has been manufactured since the distant 2003.
The official presentation of the new compact pickup should be held in 2020.
Based on the Global Emerging Markets platform from GM engineers, the pickup should compete with Renault Oroch and Fiat Toro, as well as the future pickup from Ford. The latter will be built on the basis of the popular Ford Focus. It is known that the new pickup, which will be produced under the brand Chevy, will be one of the last cars, which will be built on the basis of the “cart” GEM. It is also reported that the new pickup is being developed mainly for Brazil.
Unlike the Chevrolet Montana, the novelty will have a 4-door body. Under its hood may be a 1.4-liter GM gasoline engine with turbocharging, which is equipped with a model Chevy Cruze in some markets. The power of the motor is 153 horsepower (the “ceiling” of the torque is 240 Nm). It can be assumed that a 6-speed manual gearbox will be offered as a transmission.
