Competitor Porsche Panamera from Mercedes has received 640-hp motorMarch 7, 2018
Company Mercedes-Benz introduced a four-door supercar AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, which will compete with Porsche Panamera. The public premiere of the novelty took place in the framework of the Geneva Motor Show.
The top version of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (AMG GT 63 S) was equipped with a four-liter V8 unit developing 640 hp. and 750 Nm of torque. The engine is combined with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Such a car can accelerate from place to “hundred” in 3.2 seconds, and its maximum speed is 315 km per hour. In addition, a modification with a motor of the same capacity with a capacity of 585 horsepower will be available.
Finally, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will be offered with a combined power unit that operates under the mild hybrid scheme. It consists of a three-liter six-cylinder 435-horsepower engine and an electric motor between the engine and transmission, which operates as a starter generator. The latter is capable of providing an additional 21 force of 250 Nm of torque. This Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe accelerates from place to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds, and its maximum speed is 280 km per hour.
All variants of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe are equipped with the 4Matic + all-wheel drive system, where the traction to the front axle is realized via an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. In this case, for a four-door supercar, a special drift-mode is provided at activation of which the stabilization system is switched off, and the torque is fed exclusively to the rear wheels.
Modifications with eight-cylinder engines received a fully-controlled chassis. At speeds up to 100 km / h, the rear wheels rotate at a slight angle in the opposite direction to the front, which increases the maneuverability of the car. At high speeds, they rotate in the same direction, thereby increasing its stability when passing through turns.
Novelty received active aerodynamic elements on the electric, including a special panel under the front bumper to optimize the flow of incoming air, as well as a rear spoiler. For variants with V8 engines, an optional aerodynamic package can be ordered, which includes a rear diffuser and a massive wing installed manually.
In the cabin, a sports steering wheel with touch surfaces, a fully digital instrument panel, and a multimedia complex with a touchscreen were installed. The car can be ordered both with a five-seater saloon, and with four separate armchairs.
Sales of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will begin next year. Prices for a four-door supercar are not yet called.
