The first spy photos of the camouflaged cross-coupe Changan were posted on the network in the spring of 2018, and in July, the model pictures without any masking appeared in the base of the Ministry of Industry of China. Now the manufacturer has distributed official advertising images. A full-scale premiere of the CS85 SUV will take place in the near future.

Cross-coupe is built on the basis of the SUV Changan CS75, which has recently been radically transformed. The length of the coupe-like SUV is 4,720 mm, which is 70 mm larger than the restyling CS75. The width of the novelty is 1 845 mm (-5 mm in comparison with the “donor”), height – 1,665 mm (-30 mm), wheelbase – 2,705 mm (+5 mm).

Thus, the Changan CS85 turned out to be more compact than the second generation BMW X4 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. By the way, the Germans also set the fashion on the cross-coupe among other manufacturers. Dimensions of the BMW X4 of the second generation: 4 752/1 918/1 621 mm, the distance between the axles is 2,864 mm. Dimensions of the GLC Coupe: 4 734/1 890/1 603 mm, wheelbase – 2,873 mm. Note, in China, while they are selling X4 of the previous generation, this model is shorter than CS85 by 37 mm.

The crossover Changan CS85 will be available with petrol turbo four 1.5 and 2.0 with 178 and 232 hp. respectively. According to preliminary data, both engines will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is not yet announced whether CS85 has a full drive. Donor Changan CS75 after restyling is offered with the same 1.5-liter turbo (combined with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission) and front-wheel drive, although the pre-reform model had a 4×4 version.

The price of the cross-coupe has not yet been named, but it is known that in the lineup of the brand the novelty will occupy a niche between the CS75 and the flagship SUV CS95. The first cross in China costs from 99,800 yuan. The CS95 all-wheel drive will cost a minimum of 159,800 yuan. For comparison, the price of the first-generation BMW X4 in the Middle Kingdom starts from a mark of 489,800 yuan, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe costs from 463,800 yuan.

“Germans”, of course, are considered competitors of CS85, but the novelty of Changan has more affordable rivals among other Chinese brands. For example, on the Chinese market already sell cross-coupe Borgward BX6, also before the dealers will soon reach the coupe-like SUVs Bisu T7 and Dongfeng ix5. The prices of the last two models have not yet been announced, but they will clearly be lower than that of BMW and Mercedes. By the way, the model with this body appeared also in the mass not of the Chinese brand – Skoda is preparing to introduce a cup-shaped version of Kodiaq, developed specifically for China.
