The Italian brand is developing a new flagship crossover.
The novelty Alfa Romeo will enter the market by 2020, it will be built on the modernized version of the same platform that underlies the cross-country Stelvio and the Giulia sedan. This is reported by the publication of Auto Express with reference to representatives of the Italian brand.
According to preliminary data, the new flagship crossover will be the largest model in the history of the brand. It is expected that the all-road Alfa Romeo will receive a power unit with a “soft” hybrid system. It will include a petrol four-cylinder engine with a turbocharger and a 48-volt power system, the output will be from 350 to 400 hp. The new SUV will be about 200 kg heavier than the Stelvio.
Competitors of the large crossover Alfa Romeo will be Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Volvo XC90.
Recall, the first serial all-terrain car of the Italian brand – Stelvio – debuted in November last year. The line of motors of the standard model includes a gas turbo engine 2.0 (200 or 280 hp) and a turbodiesel 2.2 (180 or 210 hp). “Charged” Stelvio Quadrifoglio is available with a twin-turbo V6 2.9 engine rated at 510 hp.
