Compact crossover Citroen first spotted on testsMarch 10, 2021
Citroen offers a compact crossover that sits far behind the C3 Aircross in the company’s hierarchy. This new Citroen small crossover has made its first public appearance.
Citroen is developing a new small budget SUV codenamed C21. The C21 will be a compact crossover that will be about 15 cm shorter than the smallest crossover from Citroën available today: the C3 Aircross. The length of the C21 is not in vain at just under 4 meters – this model is specifically aimed at the Indian car market, where cars shorter than four meters are entitled, among other things, to tax breaks.
The Citroën C21 is one of three models that the French brand will sell in India in the coming years. Citroën has been in the Indian market since 2019 and currently only has the C5 Aircross in its lineup. The C21 pictured in these spy shots during testing in Sweden is likely to be housed on a simpler version of the famous CMP modular platform, which we know from the likes of the Peugeot 208, Opel Corsa, DS.3 Crossback and the new Citroën. C4.
The car is likely to get a recognizable Citroen signature dashboard with subtle LED lighting positioned one level above the headlights. The Citroën C21 is expected to come with petrol engines only: turbocharged and non-turbocharged units. Citroën is not expected to launch a new compact crossover in Europe.
