Citroen showed the new C5 sedan on a teaserApril 8, 2021
The press service of the French brand has published a teaser showing the new Citroen C5 sedan. The novelty of the 2022 model year, which will receive an unusual body style, will be officially presented on April 12.
The new flagship car of the French brand, announced back in 2016 with the Cxperience concept, has an unconventional shape that will set it apart from the crowd of midsize sedans. This is a completely different approach to design compared to its rival Peugeot 508, which is considered by many to be one of the most attractive cars in its segment, whether we’re talking about conventional or luxury sedans.
It must be said that the new C5 really looks promising for those who want to try a car with a completely different look.
It combines the practicality of a hatchback and station wagon with the higher ground clearance of an SUV, while for the most part has a sedan-like roof. This will certainly be unusual, as Citroën’s director of product and strategy, Laurence Hansen, called it “a completely different, very comfortable, great car.”
As for the name, we’re not entirely sure that the new product will go on sale under the C5 name. It is noteworthy that the French sedan has an internal factory index “E43”. A more powerful version of the German business-class sedan E-class is known under this designation.
Perhaps the French will choose a different designation for their new model to further distance it from the existing C5 Aircross crossover. There are rumors that the new model may even get the designation Citroen C6.
The official presentation is scheduled for next Monday. Sales in Europe are due to start in the second half of 2021.
