The French company has developed for its centenary the concept car 19_19 with a body in the style of a helicopter cabin

Citroen has prepared for its centenary a concept car called 19_19. The machine is designed to give an idea about the electric car of the future, designed for “long-distance travel with maximum comfort.”

The length of the Citroen 19_19 amounted to 4655 millimeters. When creating the exterior of the car, designers took inspiration from the Citroen RE-2 helicopter, which was developed in the 1970s, but was never launched into the series. The special capsule body provides a “unique” overview for the driver and passengers. The special dark blue color Rosalie Blue is a tribute to the racing car Petite Rosalie of the 1930s.

New received suspension Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, familiar from the crossover C5 Aircross. It additionally uses two hydraulic stoppers in shock absorbers – a rebound stop and a compression stroke stop. As noted in the company, thanks to the new technology during the ride there is a feeling of “flying on the carpet-plane”.

Especially for electric cars, the French, together with Goodyear, developed special tires, where the tire and the disc are a single whole, which additionally creates the feeling of soaring above the ground.

The electric car received an autonomous control system, the equipment of which includes two LiDAR optical rangefinders on the roof, as well as rear-view cameras, replacing traditional exterior mirrors. In addition, special sensors are built into the wheels that transmit information about road conditions to the “smart” suspension.

During the movement in the automatic mode, the glass of the car turn into projection displays, on which various information is transmitted.

Citroen 19_19 is driven by two electric engines, which together produce 462 hp and 800 Nm of torque. The electric car can accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in five seconds, and its maximum speed is 200 km per hour. Power reserve without recharging exceeds 800 kilometers.
