The last of the Chrysler 300 sedans will soon be out of production, and in 2020 the company will put on stream the first electric minivan Portal. The car was created on the basis of a concept with the same name, shown in 2017, the Canadian edition of Atonews.com reports.

According to the foreign publication, in the US sales of the Chrysler 300 sedan fell dramatically. So last year more than 50,000 copies (-3.8%) were sold here, and in August of this year only 30.5 thousand (-13.8%). So, according to the decision of the company, released for the first time in 2005, the sedan will end in 2020.

In the same year, the manufacturer will begin production of the electric Portal, whose design looks pretty futuristic in the photo and video. Many of the elements of the conceptual version will remain unchanged. Among them are sliding doors and panoramic windows.

At the presentation of the prototype last year, some of the driving characteristics of the model were voiced. The power plant is represented by an electric motor with a power of 204 hp with a set of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 100 kW / h. On the assurances of the company, the minivan can travel on one charge of about 400 km. Quick charging capacity of 350 kW with a voltage of 800V will be able to charge the car in 20 minutes for 240 km of travel.

What probably should not be expected in the production version is the folding steering wheel when going into autonomous mode. It is unlikely that the manufacturer will be able to translate such autonomy in two years.
