Chinese rival Tiguan changed outwardly and got a new engineOctober 19, 2019
Chinese Ministry of Industry declassified second-generation Chery Tiggo 7
Chinese certification authorities published photos of the new crossover Chery Tiggo 7. With a predecessor, which is sold in Russia, only the name associates the new product: the body, the line of power units and the transmission have changed.
In terms of size, Chery Tiggo 7 has become even closer to the current Volkswagen Tiguan: length has grown to 4,500 millimeters, width – up to 1842 millimeters, height – up to 1746 millimeters. Front Tiggo 7 can not be recognized: the area of the radiator grille has increased, the lights have become narrower. The stern is decorated in the style of the flagship Tiggo 8: the lights are combined by a long bar, a double false exhaust has appeared.
From the “older” model Tiggo 7 inherited a new engine – a gasoline supercharged in-line aluminum four-cylinder engine 1.6 TGDI. A power unit with a capacity of 197 horsepower and a torque of 290 Nm on the Tiggo 8 is combined with a Getrag 7-speed robot – probably the Tiggo 7 will also get a similar bunch. The old engine is a 1.5-liter 156-horsepower (230 Nm of torque ) “Turbo-four” will remain in the gamut. A less powerful engine on the current model is paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed robotized gearbox.
The premiere of the new Chery Tiggo 7 in China will take place before the end of the year. Domestic sales are likely to begin in 2020.
