Chinese imitator of the new Hyundai Santa Fe

The Chinese company Haima introduced a new serial crossover. For the model, while announced only one engine.

The pre-production model of the new Haima cross-country race debuted last spring under the SG00 designation. Now, the Chinese journalists showed the product version. In addition, the company announced the name under which the SUV goes on sale: the model received an index of 8S. Photos of the conveyor version published edition Autohome.

The crossover is built on a new HMGA (Haima Global Architecture) platform with a rear multi-link suspension. The same platform lies at the heart of the second generation of the S5 SUV. Note, the previous models of the Chinese brand are mainly based on the old Mazda platform.

The serial cross completely retained the concept design. The front part was designed, like the last Hyundai Santa Fe: on top of the LED daytime running lights, under them – the blocks of the main headlights. The stern 8S is made in the style of Peugeot 3008 – the “Chinese” have similar rear struts and lights. The length of the new Haima is 4565 mm, wheelbase – 2700 mm. For comparison, the Santa Fe, these figures are 4770 and 2765 mm, respectively, while the Peugeot 3008 – 4447 and 2675 mm.

The interior of the commodity 8S was not shown to journalists. However, for sure the salon will be the same as that of the precursor. Its features are the virtual dashboard, the center console turned to the driver and the “floating” screen of the multimedia system.

At the moment, for Haima 8S only one motor is declared – petrol turbo-four 1.6 (factory index HMA GA16-YF) with a capacity of 194 hp. (293 Nm). The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive SUV is not put. Later, a hybrid version based on the 1.2 turbo engine should also appear, but there are no details about this installation.

In the list of equipment models appear: collision avoidance systems, warnings about leaving the occupied lane and recognizing traffic signs, all-round camera, adaptive cruise control, and a panoramic sunroof.

Haima 8S will enter the home market this year, the price has not yet been announced. It is expected that the new product will be much more expensive than the second-generation Haima 5S. The latest cross today costs from 69,800 yuan.

New models need Haima as air, because in the homeland the brand’s sales collapsed twice: in 2018, 66,785 cars were sold, while in 2017, dealers transferred almost 136,963 cars to customers.
