Chinese Geely together with Volvo announced a new crossoverDecember 16, 2019
The fifth model in the lineup of the new Lynk & Co brand was featured in images published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry.
The Lynk & Co model, which received the 06 index, has already been mentioned more than once by foreign media: it was believed that under this designation they would release a large crossover with a third row of seats, built on the new Geely platform – DMA. Now it turned out that the nameplate 06 is the smallest crossover brand Lynk & Co.
It is expected that the new product will be built on the CMA platform (a joint development of Volvo and Geely), which has already formed the basis of the Lynk & Co 01 and 02 SUVs, the 03 sedan and the cross coupe 05. However, there are those among the Chinese media who believe that the new SUV received the BMA platform from Geely. The base also includes the dimensions of the novelty, which will be 4340x1820x1625 mm, and the wheelbase is 2640 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of Lynk & Co 02, which until then was the brand’s most compact SUV: 4448x1890x1528 mm, the distance between the axles – 2702 mm.
The exterior design of Lynk & Co 06 is made in the brand’s corporate style, however, it also received a number of distinctive elements – a “soaring” roof and its own taillights. The wheels of the car have a diameter of 17, 18 and 19 inches. There will also be a hybrid version of the model.
As standard, the 06 will be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a return of 177 hp, which is familiar from other models of the brand. A couple of the unit is expected to be a 7-speed robotic transmission with two clutches.
It is expected that the market of the Middle Kingdom Lynk & Co 06 will be released in 2020. Most likely, it will be the most affordable SUV in the range, despite the “senior” index. In the meantime, this title belongs to Lynk & Co 02: the price of the “Co 02” starts at 119,800 yuan.
