China has opened the longest sea bridge for carsOctober 23, 2018
In the south of China officially opened the world’s longest sea bridge for cars. The project cost was 20 billion dollars. The length of the bridge is 55 km, it connects the cities of Hong Kong, Macao and Zhuhai, reports the Daily Mail, which published the corresponding video. The design also includes a 6.7 km long underwater tunnel.
The opening ceremony was attended by President Xi Jinping. According to him, thanks to a new project, urban residents will be able to significantly reduce travel time. So, the road from Zhuhai to Hong Kong will take the driver only 30 minutes. Previously, it took about three hours.
The bridge is made of steel, its weight is more than 400 tons. The design can withstand an earthquake measuring 8 points.
