In China, sales of the Xiaopeng G3 compact electric crossover, launched by Xiaopeng Motors, have begun.
The prototype of this electric vehicle named Xpeng Beta was presented in 2016, the pre-production edition of the crossover called Xpeng Identy X began in October 2017. The product version of Xiaopeng G3 differs from the concept and pre-production sample not only by naming, but also by design. The proportions, body frame and doors remained the same as those of the Identy X, but the front and rear fenders, lighting and detailing were different. In general, the serial crossover has a more balanced and “European” design than the prototypes.
The length, width, height of new items are 4450, 1820 and 1668 mm, respectively. Wheelbase – 2610 mm. G3 is equipped with a synchronous type electric motor with permanent magnets, its power – 197 hp, torque – 300 Nm. Drive at the crossover – front, full is not provided in principle. The motor is powered by a 47 kWh lithium-ion battery. Power reserve per charge – about 350 km. From the fast charging station, 80% of the battery’s energy can be replenished in just 20 minutes. Recharging from zero to 100% of the household network will take 8.4 hours.
Inside, there is a huge 15.6-inch screen of the multimedia system through which virtually all the auxiliary functions of the car are controlled. The car is equipped with all-round cameras, an audio system, the ability to voice control functions, etc. In the roof of the car there is an additional retractable video camera that can rotate 360 degrees and recognize people’s gestures. It serves for entertainment purposes only.
There is no autopilot system for the Xiaopeng G3, but there is an adaptive cruise control, automatic adjustment of the speed limit, control over the lane.
In Xiaopeng Motors claim that they worked carefully on the power plant of the machine. Even before the development of its own crossover, the Chinese installed the motor in Lexus NX, which is similar in weight and dimensions, and carried out running tests of the structure. Mulle was tested in various road conditions, the total mileage was about 500 thousand kilometers. Then the power plant was re-checked already on its own crossover.
The total investment in the development of Xpeng G3 was $ 100 million. Each year it is planned to produce 50 thousand of these machines.
The price of Xiaopeng G3 in China, taking into account the state subsidy for the purchase of an electric vehicle, ranges from 135,800 to 165,800 yuan
