Chevy revises its Equinox trim listApril 10, 2021
The American mid-size crossover Chevy Equinox will no longer be available in the base L version for the 2022 model year, but a sporty RS version will be offered.
“The refreshed Chevrolet Equinox is set to go on sale in 2021 with a soft yet chic design update,” Chevy said in a press release. The midsize crossover debuted in February 2020, but that was before the world changed course due to COVID-19. Thus, the start of sales of the 2022 model year crossover has been postponed.
The basic equipment of the Equinox L will no longer be available for purchase. Previously, this version of the crossover could be purchased at a starting price of $ 23,800
For comparison, Equinox LS of the next level is offered already for 26,400 dollars. This version of the car will be powered by the same turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder, which still only powers the front wheels via the same six-speed automatic transmission. Please note that this information is valid for the 2021 model year version of the car. No trim levels have been announced for the 2022 Chevy Equinox, so prices for the LS version that will be the base for the crossover are likely to be slightly higher.
It is worth noting that the Chevy Equinox in the L version was equipped with the same engine as the other trim levels of the model. Otherwise, it was a rather boring version of the car, available only in silver or white. Apart from a block heater or a license plate bracket, no other options were offered, although standard equipment did include a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are also reports that the 2022 mid-size crossover will be available in a sporty RS version, which debuted alongside the rest of the facelifted Equinox last year. The sporty look of the crossover features a black exterior trim, 19-inch wheels, four tailpipes and contrasting interior stitching. However, no more powerful motor is installed under the hood.
The Equinox RS will sit between the LT and Premier trim levels. Chevrolet says the RS will arrive in the third quarter of 2021.
