Chevy patented logo brake discsSeptember 1, 2019
The American brand Chevy plans to start selling brake discs with a brand nameplate. The design of such discs has been registered with the patent office.
In its recent patent application, the American company Chevrolet revealed its plan to create branded brake discs with a company logo cut on the surface of the rotor. Many people wonder why this is necessary.
In today’s market you can buy brake discs with a perforated and slit-like rotor, and combinations of these types are also found. The American company Chevrolet is seriously considering the possibility of the appearance of branded brake discs.
Chevy’s patent application indicates the need for a brake disc with a decorative insert. The patent says that the decorative insert should not degrade the characteristics of the rotor or increase the cost of its production, which in turn can affect the final price.
Placing the Chevy logo on brake rotors is an easy way to get American brand car owners to buy new wheels directly from Chevy dealers instead of buying counterparts on the secondary market without a company logo.
At the moment, we do not know when the brake discs with the Chevy logo will be officially released, but we expect them to appear on the Corvette and Camaro sports models. This new rotor design will undoubtedly be the hallmark of Chevy brand cars, however, if sales go well, expect other manufacturers to want to do something similar for their models.
