Chevy Corvette C8 coupe prototype spotted in powerful Z06 versionSeptember 22, 2020
A camouflaged next-generation Corvette Z06 has been spotted in a series of tests. Its hood has a strange bucket-like air intake. According to rumors, the novelty will go on sale as a coupe for the 2022 model year.
Our publication has once again taken pictures of the next generation Corvette Z06 test prototype, and this time we have a chance to see the novelty from the front. The prototype is heavily concealed, but its hood is open. There is a large raised trapezoidal section, but its purpose is not entirely clear. This part does not seem tall enough for the air intake bucket. Another option is an air vent for directing air to improve aerodynamics.
On the sides are panels that cover the side air intakes. They appear larger than on a regular C8 Corvette. It would be wise for the development team to expand them, because a more powerful engine probably requires much more cooling. Larger holes would make the Z06 look a little more like a racing C8.R.
Unfortunately, the video does not provide an opportunity to hear the exhaust sound of this Corvette. The user who uploaded the video made a dubious decision: to add music to the footage that completely hides the background noise.
At the rear, there are dual tailpipes with center outlet and diffusers on each side. Based on this and earlier spy video, there is no wing or spoiler on the rear of the car, which comes as a surprise for a high-performance Corvette. We shouldn’t be surprised that the production version of the model will still have one of these downforce-producing elements.
The new Z06 is said to be powered by a 5.5-liter V8 twin overhead camshaft engine from the C8.R race car. According to rumors, the power will be 625 or 650 horsepower.

An online visualizer has been launched on the official website of the American automaker, which will show how the version of the sports coupe Chevy Corvette of the C8 generation in the 2021 model year will look like.
