Chevy Corvette 2020 has build quality issues

One of the employees of the dealership of the American automaker found that the new generation sports coupe has some problems with the build quality – the elements of the front bumper of the car have lost their mounting bolts and may well come off under heavy load.

A published video says that one of the employees of the Chevy dealership found a mistake in assembling the sports coupe Chevy Corvette C8. The fact is that some elements of the front bumper do not have mounting screws. The employee who made the video decided to track the assembly process to understand how the installation of these screws was skipped and fix the situation. Apparently, not one but six screws are missing that hold the small aero wings on the front bumper.

Just last week, we learned that some instances of the current generation Corvette received paint damage on the inside of the driver’s door from a screw that was too long.

The problem was found when installing a protective film on all external elements of the car. It is noteworthy that this malfunction also “surfaced” on the largest form of MidEngineCorvetteForum, which is dedicated to the next-generation Corvette. In short, the small horizontal winglets (wings) that are located in the corner holes of the front bumper of the new Corvette are attached to the front panel with three screws each. The installer found that these “wings” have enough free travel, and with the rotation of the chamber we see that both wings do not have all the screws. Demonstrating how freely these elements “sit”, the installer takes out the “wing” of the passenger from the bumper.

It is unclear whether the automaker at the plant “messed up” with the assembly or whether the employees of the dealerships were to blame for this, who produced the additional installation. The location of the mounting holes implies that the screws should pass from the rear of the bumper, assuming that they must be installed before the bumper is in place. In addition, wings are standard items on all C8 Corvettes, which further suggests that this is a factory mistake.
