Chevy Camaro turned into an expensive version of the Pontiac Trans AmJuly 19, 2021
A team of enthusiasts has turned the Chevy Camaro into an expensive version of the Pontiac Trans Am. The resulting car is being auctioned for $ 100,000.
With its starring roles in the cult classic Smokey and the Bandit and The Knight Rider, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has become a pop culture icon. Unfortunately, the classic American production car has not been produced for the past 20 years. General Motors also decided to say goodbye to the entire Pontiac company in 2010, so there is no hope that the Trans Am will ever make a return to the market, but its legacy is still alive with various cues.
One company converted a Chevrolet Camaro into a fairly passable copy of the Trans Am.
It’s the perfect combination as the original Trans Am had the same platform as the iconic Camaro, and this car shows what a modern Trans Am would look like if it were still built today.
Based on the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Cabriolet, this project is the result of the work of PMD Garage of Pontiac Michigan, which calls its creation the “Pontiac Trans Am ZTA.” The attention to detail shown in this Trans Am tribute car is commendable.
The custom front bumper mimics the distinctive front beak of the original Trans Am, and new carbon fiber components have been added, including special fender vents and a protruding bonnet bucket.
Inside, the seats and floor mats are embroidered with the Trans Am logo. Under the hood is a 6.2-liter V8 borrowed from the Camaro ZL1, producing 580 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the production of the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro is scheduled for September. The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro is just around the corner. But he will arrive a little later than expected.
