According to the owner of a Chevy electric car, her Chevy Bolt “started to smoke” on its own. A visiting insurance company declared the electric car unrecoverable, and GM promised to conduct an internal investigation into the incident.

The owner of the electric car Chevrolet Bolt Hajime Rojas from Virginia, USA, says that her 2019 electric car began to smoke on July 4 this year. She says the smoke was increasing and she had no idea what would happen next. She also has no idea why the Bolt overheated at all. Rojas called the emergency services. The experts who arrived did not notice the visible flame, but according to Ms Rojas, the heat melted the car, and the Rojas insurance company declared the car to be irreparable.

After spending over $ 40,000 on a car and owning it for only 18 months, she was clearly upset about the situation.

The firefighters who arrived at the scene did not share with Rojas the reason for the smoke, as they probably could not pinpoint it.

Rojas’ next step was to contact GM and ask him to investigate, although she said the concern refused to do so. In fact, Rojas said the automaker said the problem was now “in the hands” of its insurance company.

After the incident, Ms. Rojas contacted the local media and after the latter contacted GM, the concern began to investigate the problem. In addition, through coverage of this situation, Rojas was able to attract the attention of the US National Highway Transport and Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Not so long ago, our publication wrote that on the basis of the Chevy Bolt they will make an electric crossover Buick Velite 7. The American novelty will be intended only for the Chinese car market. The crossover will receive a 174 horsepower electric motor.
