Chevrolet will stop production of new Corvette due to lack of partsOctober 11, 2020
Chevrolet Corporation will have to stop production of new Corvette due to a lack of components.
An enterprise that produces sports cars in the US state of Kentucky is going to suspend operations on October 12, the idle time will last at least a week. According to the company, the stop is due to a lack of spare parts due to a failure in logistics.
Chevrolet did not hide the problems with the supply of parts and said that it hopes to restore the plant’s activities from October 19. The reason for the disruption to logistics is the coronavirus pandemic.
At the same time, customers who ordered a sports car will not feel much stagnation in the production process: GM has already announced that the assembly of the Corvette will be extended by a week, in other words, the production of the last copies of sports cars in 2020 is scheduled for December this year. According to insiders, by now 13,039 Corvette has already rolled off the assembly line, and a total of 20,181 cars of the current model year are planned to be produced. So far, everything is going according to schedule, since more than 150 units are produced during the working day.
