Chevrolet will introduce a special version of Camaro for drag racingNovember 5, 2019
Already this week, Los Angeles will host the SEMA tuning exhibition, at which Chevrolet will show an exclusive version of the Camaro sports coupe, which is designed for drag racing (direct race). The car will be sold at a charity auction in Barrett-Jackson in January 2020.
There are only a few days left before the start of the SEMA tuning exhibition, and we are slowly starting to learn about those cars that will be shown in Los Angeles this year. The American company Chevrolet has decided to present a special version of its iconic supercar Camaro. The automaker plans to create 69 copies of the model specifically for the NHRA drag racing competition. Technically speaking, 70 such cars will be assembled in total – one of them will be presented just at the upcoming event.
According to Chevrolet representatives, this is a one-time car assembly, which, after a demonstration at the SEMA exhibition, will go to the Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson auction in January 2020. The proceeds from the sale of exclusive cars will go to charity.
The body and interior of the car are decorated with an autograph of the legendary racer John Force, who is the 16-time champion of the NHRA drag racing. The car received a black / silver body color scheme, as well as a red trim. Limited-edition cars will be equipped with either a 5.7-liter supercharged V8 or a 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine.
“It’s a great looking COPO Camaro, and I liked helping design this car,” said John Force in a Chevrolet press release. “COPO Camaro is already a formidable car and is hard to beat on the track. But this one is even more special because it will help support a cause in which I firmly believe. ”
It should be noted that in the distant 1969, the Chevrolet Camaro COPO first appeared – a car designed for drive racing.
Not so long ago, цу wrote that Chevrolet and the manufacturer of workwear will unite to produce a special pickup truck. We are talking about a heavy pickup Silverado HD, for which they prepared a special version called “Carhartt Special Edition”. In all its glory, cars will present at the SEMA show starting today.
