Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe will receive push-button control gearboxDecember 13, 2019
Judging by the published interior photo of the updated SUVs, the purpose of the control buttons for the operation of the gearbox will be intuitive.
American full-size SUVs Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe 2021 model year are equipped with a vertical set of buttons that are located to the right of the steering wheel and are designed to control the gearbox.
“We looked at several powertrain layout options,” – said Michael Stapleton, Chevrolet Suburban / Tahoe chief interior designer, in a recent interview.
He noted that his team was seriously considering the possibility of installing a rotary dial as a gearbox control body. But in the end, it was decided to abandon this idea due to the fact that the use of such a dial could hardly be called intuitive. As a result, the gearbox control scheme was selected using vertically arranged buttons – the operating modes are laid out in the same way as when using the traditional automatic transmission knob.
Mr. Stapleton separately noted that the Chevy design team paid great attention to creating the interior of the updated Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe SUVs, which now has some things in common with the Silverado pickup.
The 2021 model year Suburban and Tahoe SUVs are equipped with a 10-inch infotainment system screen, which will be located at the top of the center console. Rear passengers will have access to entertainment through two 12.6-inch screens, which will also work with a multimedia system. Updated Chevy SUVs will go on sale in mid-2020.
