Chevrolet showed official sketches of the interior of the mid-engine Corvette Z06November 12, 2019
The interior design sketch comes directly from Chevrolet, so it should become so in reality.
Although the production of the new mid-engined Corvette Stingray was delayed until February 2020, it seems that Chevrolet is already aiming to show us the more powerful Z06. Our foreign colleagues managed to get an official interior sketch from an American company, and it is worth noting that the image differs from several sketches described in detail by C8 team members in August during the presentation of a mid-engined sports car at the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Corvette National Museum.
An obvious difference between the interior of the yet-confirmed Z06 and the fully stocked Stingray 3LT with carbon fiber interior trim is the “Z06” badge at the bottom of the steering wheel. The guys at Roadshow analyzed this image and found that the track layout presented in the digital instrument cluster depicts the Mugello track in Italy. In addition, “ARM” is displayed on the driver’s display, and “Spec Mode” is written on the steering wheel button under the airbag.
In addition, it is worth mentioning several other details, for example, the generous use of carbon fiber, which is used throughout the center console and dashboard, as well as on the steering column switches and the steering wheel, which would make sense, given the higher position of the Z06 in the range. Even with the $ 1,500 carbon fiber interior trim package on a regular Corvette, there isn’t that much carbon fiber.
The design sketch was developed by Tristan Murphy, who has been with General Motors for 13.5 years and is the interior design manager.
