Chevrolet removed a popular option from the Corvette configurator
February 2, 2020For the new Corvette, you can no longer order a carbon body kit
Problems with the manufacturer of carbon fiber accessories forced Chevrolet to remove a set of aerodynamic elements from the Corvette configurator.
Among the options available for the eighth generation Chevrolet Corvette are a set of carbon accessories called Visible Carbon Fiber Ground Effects. The kit costs $ 4,850 includes a front bumper splitter and side door sills. It was very popular with future owners of the sports car, but now, according to Corvette Blogger, this option has disappeared from the corporate configurator. General Motors explained to reporters that they were forced to take this step because of problems with suppliers.
The manufacturer of carbon fiber accessories simply can not cope with the current number of orders for the body kit for Corvette and will be able to satisfy demand only by the end of this year. As a temporary measure, the supplier plans to launch in a couple of months a similar set of parts, but made of ordinary plastic and painted in glossy black. Those who definitely want to decorate their Corvette with carbon fiber will have to wait until the production of the body kit is resumed and then purchase it from Chevrolet dealers with subsequent installation.
