Chevrolet moved production of the new Corvette C8 to December?March 3, 2019
If the information from the Mid Engine Corvette forum turns out to be true, the production of a new generation of Chevrolet Corvette is strongly postponed.
Judging by the information that was published a few minutes ago at the well-known foreign forum Mid Engine Corvette, the management of Chevrolet decided to postpone the start of mass production of the new Corvette to December this year. It turns out that the current generation of the C7 model will remain on the conveyors of the American brand for some time.
The forum published an image showing all the cars that General Motors concern will produce for the 2020 model year. It follows from it that the current Corvette C07 and its execution of the Z06 will be in production potentially next year.
If the production of the new Corvette really was postponed to December of this year, we would not be surprised. As the guys from Chevrolet said earlier, the Corvette C8 has serious problems with the electrical part. It is argued that the electric system of the supercar can not cope with the load necessary to support the normal performance of all components of the car.
According to our sources, the long-awaited novelty will receive a 6.2-liter V8 for 500 hp. as a base engine. A 600 hp 5.5-liter V8 will also be available, and after installing two turbines, the power will increase to 800 hp. The twin-turbo V8 hybrid can offer 1,000 hp.
Finally, I note that more than four years have passed since the first spy shots of the next generation supercar appeared.
