The new SUV of the American brand can make its debut next year.
In Korea, photographed a camouflaged car, pictures published by the local newspaper Daily Car. According to the portal, the paparazzi managed to capture a new crossover Chevrolet, which will replace the Trax SUV. The code name of the project is 9BUX. It is not yet known how the model will position itself – as a completely new cross-country or as Trax next generation. Designed for the global market, the current compact “SUV” Chevrolet produced in Korea (the release of the model for the US is established in Mexico). It is expected that the new model will be assembled there as well.
Earlier this year, General Motors announced plans to reorganize its business in South Korea due to losses of the local unit: in May it was shut down by the plant in Kunsan, where Chevrolet Cruze and Orlando were produced. The enterprise has not yet been sold – there is no interest from other companies.
In Korea, the concern left two more car assembly sites and a factory of transmissions. It was assumed that they will suffer the same fate as the company in Kunsan, but in April GM said that the country will start production of new crossovers, without revealing details about the models. Apparently, the caught SUV will be the first “swallow” in the series of future GM innovations.
Recall Trax / Tracker of the current generation released in 2013, it is the “twin” Opel Mokka. In 2016, cross-country Chevrolet was updated: the model changed the design of the exterior and interior. In Korea, the “SUV” is available with a petrol turbo quater 1.4 and a 1.6 turbo diesel with a power of 140 and 135 hp. respectively. The first motor is combined with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, the second – only with 6-speed automatic transmission. Price Trax in the Korean market – from 16.95 million won.
