Chevrolet is preparing a hybrid version of the C8 CorvetteAugust 29, 2019
It is no secret that the automaker will present in the near future at least one hybrid version of the new Chevrolet Corvette.
A Youtube user with the nickname TFLnow recently stumbled upon a pair of C8 Corvette camouflage prototypes. This is quite interesting because Chevrolet officially introduced the car in mid-July. Therefore, it remains unclear whether these are the same test mules that were previously used by the automaker, or something new.
The thick orange cables on the hood immediately catch my eye, which suggests that they are most likely electrified thanks to the GM Global B architecture, which underlies the new Corvette.
Reports of future versions of the Corvette have appeared online in recent weeks, with one recent post claiming that the upcoming Z06 will be equipped with a turbocharged V8 with an output of approximately 800 hp and 959 Nm of torque.
It is assumed that Chevrolet will create a new Corvette with a hybrid transmission in only one configuration – ZR1. The company previously reported that this model could use a twin-turbocharged V8, supplemented by an electric motor, which in total produces about 1000 hp. Although it is impossible to say whether these cars are early prototypes of this model, it is clear that Chevrolet enthusiasts have something to expect in the next few years.
