Chevrolet has “declassified” the teaser image of its new sedan called Onix. It was under this name that the model appeared in a press release for English-speaking fans of the brand. But in the official message in Chinese, the novelty is already referred to as “Cavalier Onix” – a kind of next generation of the current “Chevalier”.
It is known that a sedan is captured on the teaser in the “sportier” Redline modification. From the standard car model in this version differs bright red decorative elements. Contrast inserts adorn the side mirror housings, grille and rims.
The automaker in no hurry to report any technical details. The only hint is the platform. It is expected that this will be a new platform, created jointly by specialists from GM and SAIC. Such a platform, by the way, we can see on the new Chevrolet Tracker.
Useful information about the new product was once reported by the Chinese Ministry of Industry. According to the ministry, the Chevrolet Onix will reach a length of 4,474 mm, and the size of the wheelbase will be 2,600 mm. Experts suggest that the new Onix will come onto the Chinese market with two engines: a liter petrol turbo engine with 116 hp. and 103-hp engine 1.6 liters. There is no information about the types of transmission.
The premiere of new items promise to organize in the near future. The prices are still kept secret, but experts are confident that the cost of the new product will not differ much from the price tag on the Cavalier – just over 79 thousand yuan
