Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Runner has received underbody protection, power thresholds and toothed tires

The Chevrolet brand introduced another modification of the mid-size pickup truck Colorado on the American market. The version called Z71 Trail Runner is designed for those who regularly use the car on serious off-road.

The basis is the Colorado Z71 version, which differs from the standard models with a reinforced suspension for bad roads and the presence of a locking rear differential. The main features of the Trail Runner modification are powerful underbody protection, power sills, and 17-inch high-profile Goodyear Duratrac tires with off-road tread pattern.

External differences from the basic pickup are minimal: it is a grille with a large Chevrolet inscription instead of the firm “cross” in the middle and off-road wheels with a large checker. However, this grid can now be obtained on any modification of the pickup for an extra charge of $ 395.

The novelty will take the middle step in the hierarchy of modifications of the Colorado off-road pickup truck. The pickup has a much more radical version of the ZR2: it features a suspension with forged levers, an extended track and Multimatic shock absorbers. But such a car is much more expensive. By the way, it is from the ZR2 version that the bottom was borrowed for the modification of the Z71 Trail Runner.

At the same time, Chevrolet also offered its customers a RST version with a luxury slant. She received chrome-free body trim, door moldings and 20-inch wheels with black lacquered wheels. And the same grille with the words Chevrolet, like the version of the Z71 Trail Runner.

The Chevrolet Colorado pickup has been sold in the US recently — just four years. This is a representative of medium-sized trucks, in recent years, again gained popularity in America. In size, they are close to the familiar pickups of Asian and European production – Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Volkswagen Amarok.

Chevrolet Colorado for the American market is produced at a factory in the town of Wentzville in Missouri. Three engines are offered (diesel Duramax 2.8, petrol four of the Ecotec 2.5 and V6 3.6). There is a choice between a half or a double cabin, manual and automatic boxes, rear or all-wheel drive. Pickup prices start at $ 20,500.
