Chevrolet completely unveiled updated pickup Silverado HD 2020February 6, 2019
The American pickup 2020 model year received a new V8 engine, thanks to which it can tow 16,102 kg of payload. There is no price yet, the start of sales is scheduled for this summer.
The American brand Chevrolet in the beginning of December told some details about the new version of its full-size pickup Silverado HD. Now, the long-awaited novelty is fully disclosed. One of the main innovations is the possibility of towing 16,102 kg, which is 181 kg more than the HD version of a Ram pickup with a Cummins diesel engine.
More importantly, this is an enormous increase in the maximum weight of the towed cargo by as much as 52% compared with the previous generation Silverado HD.
The new Silverado HD is bigger in all respects than its predecessor, and we are not talking only about the false radiator grille. Chevrolet says the pickup is longer, taller and wider, with a 132 cm long wheelbase for Crew Cab models. The total length of the cab with a standard cargo platform is almost 30 cm longer than that of the previous truck, and also almost 5.08 cm higher.
The pickup also received a new 10-step Allison automatic. Chevrolet reports that “every component,” from the transmission to the wheels, has been upgraded. The rear axle is equipped with an 11.5-inch ring gear for 2500HD models and a 12-inch ring gear for 3500HD diesel trucks.
Under the hood is a proven 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel, producing the same 445 horsepower (1234 Nm). This is more power than the counterpart from the Ram can offer, but significantly less than the Ford pickup.
