Chevrolet Camaro will be a hybrid with a 6.2 V8 engineOctober 23, 2018
Chevrolet Camaro will offer two options for gasoline-electric installations
In the range of engines Chevrolet Camaro will be a new “turbo” for the Silverado pickup and two hybrid units based on the 2.0 I4 and 6.2 V8 units. According to preliminary information, the top hybrid will cost four thousand dollars more expensive than the version with the traditional internal combustion engine.
The initial configuration of the muscle car will be equipped with a 2.7 turbo engine, which is placed on the Chevrolet Silverado and, possibly, in the future will appear on the “charged” Cadillac XT4 V-Sport crossover. Engine power will be 310 horsepower and 472 Nm of torque. Camaro, equipped with such an engine, can accelerate to 96 kilometers per hour in 5.2 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than the car with the current “turbo four”).
The junior hybrid based on a two-liter turbo engine will produce 370 horsepower and accelerate the coupe to 96 kilometers per hour in 4.4 seconds. The combined fuel consumption of the hybrid Camaro will be 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The power plant based on a 6.2 V8 (461–552 hp) will allow the car to accelerate to 96 kilometers per hour in 4.0 or 3.7 seconds. Consumption at the same time will be 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
Hybrid versions of the Chevrolet Camaro will compete with the Ford Mustang Hybrid. According to rumors, coupe get a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, mounted between the engine and transmission unit electric motor, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The return of the power plant will be about 405 horsepower.
