Chery showed a new electric crossover Chery S61July 16, 2020
The Chinese brand has unveiled the official images of its new S61 electric crossover. The basis of the novelty, which is called the rival of the recently debuted Nissan Ariya, is a modern aluminum platform.
Chery has unveiled the Chery S61 electric car. The “green” SUV is based on the LFS modular platform, 93 percent made of lightweight aluminum alloy.
With the help of such a platform the manufacturer managed to reduce the weight of the car – “minus” 80 kilograms when compared with a model of a similar construction made of steel. The new “cart” will eventually go to other Chery cars. The novelty is already being compared with the Nissan Ariya electric crossover presented the day before.
In terms of dimensions, the new product from Chery is slightly superior to its competitor: Chery is 3.5 cm longer and six cm wider than Ariya (4630x1910x1650 mm, wheelbase – 2 630 mm).
Chery S61 gets a narrowed glass line, LED optics, spectacular 20-inch rims, etc. A large liquid crystal panel consisting of two displays – dashboard and multimedia (both screens 12.3 “), was placed in the crossover’s cabin. The gear selector here is made in the spirit of Audi models.
The arsenal of the new electric car includes an unmanned ADAS complex, intelligent croise control, a special system that can recognize faces, and much more. In addition, Chery S61 supports 5G networks, remote control and over the air upgrade. There is no information about the motor. If we recall the patents, then the new crossover will get two electric motors – 163 and 177-strong.
The novelty should appear on sale in the third quarter of this year, and, most likely, it will be renamed eQ5.
