Chery premium division revealed rival Kia SportageAugust 22, 2019
Chinese company Exeed, a premium sub-brand of Chery, held a presentation of the second model – the mid-size crossover LX. The novelty is a converted Chery Tiggo 7 all-terrain vehicle and is slightly larger in size than the updated Kia Sportage.
The Exeed LX chassis architecture repeats the Tiggo 7 for the Chinese market: crossovers have the same wheelbase and body structure. The main design differences are in the engine and gearbox: under the Exeed hood, a more powerful 1.6-liter “turbo four” with a capacity of 197 horsepower is installed, the transmission is a 7-speed robotic with two clutches.
Outward resemblance to the Tiggo 7 is manifested only in the form of windows and doors – the design of the front and rear are redesigned. In the cabin, nothing reminds of “kinship” with Chery: the interior is replete with leather and wooden inserts, and boasts diode contour lighting. The dashboard and multimedia system are combined in a single infotainment complex a la Mercedes-Benz MBUX. Both virtual appliances and media display are 12.3-inch.
As befits a premium brand, the Exeed LX is richly equipped: the top version has LED optics, adaptive cruise control, all-round cameras, lane control assistant and 19-inch wheels.
In China, LX sales will begin in a month, and access to other markets is planned for 2020.
