Cheaper SsangYong Rexton could not circumvent the Toyota Fortuner SUVFebruary 10, 2019
The budget version of the new frame SUV company Mahindra began to offer customers in November 2018th. Since that time, dealers have collected only about a thousand pre-orders.
The Indian motorists presented the available version of SsangYong Rexton as Mahindra Alturas G4. It was planned that this SUV will be able to compete with the Japanese Toyota Fortuner SUV. However, in fact, it turned out that the novelty was never able to approach the sales volumes of its legendary competitor – from November to January about a thousand pre-orders were issued. Such a figure shared edition Autocar.
Experts claim that low consumer interest is easily explained by the high price tag for a novelty: Alturas G4 is only 60-90 thousand rupees cheaper than Fortuner.
A year ago, when Alturas G4 made its debut, it became clear that the new product is not much different from the last generation of SsangYong Rexton. The only thing that still distinguishes the legal “copy” from the original is the reconfigured suspension, the new grille design and a different logo. Under the hood, the Alturas G4 hides a 2.2-liter turbo diesel with a capacity of 181 hp, combined with a seven-speed automatic transmission from Mercedes-Benz. The drive can be either rear or full.
