Chase Carey’s open letter …March 19, 2020
The Executive Director of Formula 1 wrote an open letter to fans in connection with the epidemic of coronavirus and its impact on sports …
Dear Formula 1 fans,
I want to share with you some thoughts and perspectives that appeared last week in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
First of all, our main priority is the health and safety of fans, teams and companies in Formula 1, as well as society as a whole.
We apologize to the fans who suffered from the cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix and the postponement of other races to a later date. These decisions are made by the leadership of Formula 1, the FIA and the promoters in rapidly changing conditions, but we consider them correct and necessary.
We understand – everyone wants to know what’s next for Formula 1 in 2020. Given the constant development of the situation, today we can not give an exact answer. However, we plan to start the 2020 season as soon as it is safe.
Every day we communicate with experts and officials, evaluating the direction of further movement in the coming months. We will keep you posted and let you know the details as soon as they appear.
We appreciate your support and understanding. We wish you and your families all the best.
Sincerely yours, Chase Carey.
