Charles Lecler: We are competitive in all conditionsSeptember 28, 2019
Charles Lecler led the protocol for the first training session in Sochi, and in the second he lost slightly to Red Bull Racing, so he is waiting for the race with optimism. For Sebastian Vettel, both sessions were difficult …
Charles Lecler (2nd): “Successful Friday. Red Bull Racing has a very fast car, but we are focused on ourselves and know that we can play a lot of time in the circle. There were no problems with granulating rubber, the main difficulties were with the balance, which so far does not quite correspond to my preferences, especially in a short series of circles. But we have a great racing pace – it’s great!
On this track, there may be minor problems with the rear tires in the third sector, you may have to sacrifice a little speed in the first sector so that the car behaves better at the end of the circle. We will try to find a compromise.
Let’s see how the car will behave in rain conditions – the last time we spoke on the wet track in Hockenheim and were very fast. I think we are competitive in all conditions. ”
Sebastian Vettel (3rd): “A bit strange day. We tried several solutions, some worked, others did not. We need to figure out why this is so – and decide. But I am pleased with the workouts. At some point, the car worked perfectly – let’s see what awaits us tomorrow. It’s great if we are competitive.
Red Bull Racing cars were very fast, especially in the third sector. I think that we can make progress, especially in terms of balance – and tomorrow everything should be better. But I can’t say how much time we will play due to this. I hope we do everything right – we’ll see. ”
