“Charged” Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered will go into mass productionDecember 28, 2019
Back in the spring, at a Geneva auto show, Peugeot showed a show car called the Concept 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered, but its production future remained uncertain.
However, the head of the Peugeot brand, Jean-Philippe Imparato, said that the productive variations of the liftback and the 508 station wagon with the Sport Engineered prefix will replenish the model line of the brand next year.
Currently, little is known about production cars: of the details that the head of the corporation reported, we can only note the presence of a hybrid power unit, which can develop 360 hp, and an all-wheel drive system.
It should be mentioned that the Geneva conceptual model boasted about 400 hp. and 500 Nm of torque, and it was possible to achieve similar indicators by combining the 1.6 PureTech petrol turbo four with 200 hp. and two electric motors, one on each axis. The declared acceleration time to 100 km / h is 4.3 seconds, and the maximum speed is 250 km / h.
Information about the technical characteristics of serial modifications of the Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered will be declassified closer in March, when the French brand begins to accept orders.
Deliveries of debut cars will start in October. By the way, with the advent of “charged” models, the Peugeot brand will open a new sheet of its own history: these will be the first production models with a capacity of more than 300 hp. Although very soon they will be joined by several more sports hybrids.
