Charged Chevrolet Сruze: without restyling, but with a 300-hp turbo engineNovember 7, 2018
The car’s engine capacity has almost doubled: if the conventional restyled Cruze makes it only 153 hp, then in the Brazil version, the return is increased to 300 hp.
The new “hot” version of the Chevrolet Cruze debuted the day before at the Sao Paulo Auto Show, with photos shared by Autoblog.com.ar. In Brazil, the hatchback is called the Cruze Sport6, while the “charged” version still got the prefix SS. Previously, it was assumed that this car will get almost the same design as the restyled American hatch Cruze RS, but the Brazilian “hatch” looks more modestly outwardly updated.
So, the car presented at the exhibition has the former design of the stern and almost the same performance of the front end with minimal differences in the bumper. In addition, the novelty has emblems in the form of letters “SS”, the brand logo is made in black, plus the car received 20-inch wheels (in the regular version – 17-18 inches). Also in the arsenal of the Chevrolet Cruze Sport6 SS appear reconfigured suspension, sport seats and steering wheel, metal lining appeared on the pedals.
Under the hood, the Ecotec 1.4 liter “turbo” is installed – the standard Cruze Sport6 hatchback is also equipped with the same engine. However, if the base hatch power is 153 hp, then the SS version produces 300 hp! The usual “hatch” in Brazil is only available with a six-speed automatic transmission, apparently, the same box went to the sport version. Dynamic characteristics of new items are not disclosed. Standard Cruze with this engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.7 s.
The Brazilian sports version made its debut in the status of the concept, while there is no data whether such a car will be sent to the series. However, it is possible, because in the States “hot hatch” is sold. True, it is not known whether the Cruze Sport6 SS will retain a 300-horsepower turbo engine. Note, the standard sedan and hatchback Cruze in Brazil are presented in the form of pre-reform, the updated cars should go on sale at the end of 2019 – early 2020.
