Car sharing, or short-term rentals, were invented as an alternative to personal transportation. However, this did not help get rid of traffic jams and reduce the number of cars.

Recent trends in the automotive world show the active development of electrification and Internet connectivity. Moreover, the latest technology has allowed the creation of car sharing services – car sharing. Many experts hoped that this would reduce the traffic load on cities, but the experiment was unsuccessful, and even a failure.

The Automotive Research Center of the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany published a report on the automotive situation in Germany. So, car sharing in the local market appeared in 2009. Over the course of 10 years, the number of personal vehicles has not only not decreased, but has increased significantly. In ten years, Germany has increased by 5.8 million cars. Moreover, the number of drivers also increased by 10%.

Since 2009, many car-sharing services have been operating in Germany, including from European car manufacturers. The brands Opel, Mazda, Citroen have already refused such a service. Moreover, the two local giants Daimler and BMW had to unite in this segment. Similar problems can be noted around the world.

The main problem of these services is the active support of the government when buying a new car for individuals. In addition, having your own car is prestigious.
