Car of the Year 2021 winners will be awarded in GenevaFebruary 15, 2021
The Car of the Year 2021 awards ceremony will be streamed live from Geneva on the Internet on Monday 1 March 2021.
As the organizers of the award told speedme.ru, this date also marks an anniversary: for the tenth time since 2012, the team of the Geneva International Motor Show together with the jury will organize a voting ceremony for the most coveted award in the automotive world. This is despite the fact that the show itself cannot take place this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Car of the Year Trophy, which has been awarded since 1964, is one of the most prestigious and coveted awards in the automotive world. A 59-member jury of automotive journalists from 22 countries selects the winner from seven of the seven models to be finalized in the first round of voting. Finalists were: Citroën C4, Cupra Formentor, Fiat 500, Land Rover Defender, Škoda Octavia, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen ID. 3.
This year, voting is subject to special conditions. Instead of the usual GIMS press opening ceremony, the ceremony will be broadcast live on the Internet, as it did in 2020.
“We are delighted that the ceremony and awards ceremony will be held in Geneva again this year,” says Frank Janssen, President of the Car of the Year Award. “We are fully committed to our partnership with GIMS. When times are tough, it’s especially important to stick together. Because the webcast format is also an opportunity that gives us completely new perspectives in the presentation of the seven finalists. I can’t wait to go to Geneva and choose “Car of the Year 2021. And in 2022 we want to host another live event at the Geneva International Motor Show.”
The Car of the Year 2021 awards ceremony is supported by the Tourist Club of Switzerland, which celebrates its 125th anniversary this year.
“TCS attended the first Geneva International Motor Show because our members have always loved the technological innovation that drives the automotive world. Therefore, it is natural for us to support the ‘Car of the Year 2021’ award, which is awarded annually to the best products in the industry, and we look forward to the next GIMS, ”says Jürg Witwer, CEO of Touring Club Switzerland.
The Car of the Year Awards ceremony will be streamed live on the Geneva International Motor Show website www.gims.swiss on Monday 1 March 2021.
