Canoo electric minibus drives onto the roadDecember 3, 2019
Testing on real roads is an important step towards mass production of an unusual electric car, which will be distributed by subscription, for $ 400 per month. It should start in 2021.
At the beginning of this year, Canoo startup announced plans to create four models of electric vehicles. One of them, the city minibus, has already passed the first road tests. According to Electrek, they started on November 10th. Before conducting real races, the company’s engineers spent a lot of time on virtual modeling.
By area, the Canoo minibus resembles a standard passenger car, but the area of its cabin is much larger. According to the creators, it is not intended for fast driving, but it is able to overcome 400 km on a single charge.
Electric vehicles for road tests were assembled at a plant in Michigan, but for mass production, the startup will sign a contract with a certain unnamed company.
According to plans, Canoo minibus sales will begin in 2021. It will be distributed by subscription for $ 500 per month.
For several weeks now, the Tesla Cybertruck remains the most talked about electric car. Although its appearance surprised many unpleasantly, already 200,000 people managed to pre-order for its purchase. And recently, a pickup truck was spotted on public roads.
