California’s Karma unveils tech info on its new high-performance supercar platform.
The development is called High-Performance E-Flex. It is intended for use in sports models and allows you to install two electric motors – one for each pair of wheels.
According to the creators, the total power of the tandem reaches 1115 hp. (820 kW), and a torque of 14,000 Nm will be transmitted to the wheels. This figure looks quite modest, if you recall that the claimed moment on the wheels of the new GMC Hummer EV promised about 15592 Nm.
Continuing the conversation about the technical characteristics of new items, it is also worth noting that from 0 to 100 km / h the supercar will be able to accelerate in less than 1.9 seconds. The flat battery, which occupies the space under the floor, not only provides a low center of gravity, but also guarantees a range of more than 640 km.
It is not clear when to expect a production model of a supercar on a new platform. According to one of Karma’s top managers, Kevin Zhang, “our new High-Performance E-Flex platform is perfect for supercar installation and is designed for high-speed cars like the Karma SC2 concept.”
Recall that the SC2 concept debuted last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show. True, then the declared mileage of the coupe was at the level of 560 km. Other features of the model include carbon-ceramic brakes, push-rod suspension with horizontal shock absorbers and a traction vectorization system.
