Cal Kratchlow: 19 second backlog unacceptableAugust 27, 2019
At the start, Cal Kratchlow took ninth place. On the first lap, the Briton compensated for several positions, a serious incident at the first turn helped. The British rider hoped to follow the group of leaders. However, all his hopes were crushed about the problems with the rear tires.
Cal Kratchlow managed to temporarily bypass Franco Morbidelli, but in the end the Briton finished in a lonely sixth place.
Cal Kratchlow: “I got a pretty good start, I took advantage of the incident on the first corner. Of course, I sympathize with Dovi very much and I hope that everything is fine with him, since the accident looked very bad from the side.
It is unacceptable for me and my team to finish 19 seconds later than the winner. At this stage, they gave all one hundred percent. I had a pace – there is no doubt about it. On Saturday, he showed lap times one and a half seconds faster than in the end of the race. This is very strange since some tires are good and others are worse.
Do not misunderstand me. It would be difficult for me to win the race anyway, but really should have been much closer to the winner. “
Kratchlow, despite his disappointment, scored important points and continues to struggle with other satellite pilots Jack Miller (Pramac Ducati) and Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha).
